Bernard "Bernie" Magallanes

Bernard "Bernie" Magallanes passed away suddenly on July 18, 2013 after suffering a stroke caused by stomach cancer which had gone undetected.  All his life Bernie had been very fit and ate healthy, and in his early days was a boxer.  In 1963 he was the Golden Gloves Champion.  After he retired from competing in boxing he went into training future boxers -  men, women and children.

His sister Dolores Magallanes was also a member of the class of 1959.  Bernie came from a family of 12 children attending Eastmont Jr. High and Montebello High School.  He leaves his wife Esther, his daughter Colleen Cabrina and one grand child Jordon Cabrina.

Our thoughts and prayers are with his family, may he rest in peace.
