Janie was killed in a tragic automobile accident (along with her husband Gerald, their daughter Krista and son Nathan) on the way to Big Bear. The date was August 10, 1976. She is buried in Rose Hills Memorial Park in the Terrace of Faith Lawn, Section 1, Lot 1105, at entrance #1.

Janie and I were best friends from the 4th grade and all the way through Montebello Junior High School and we attended the First Baptist Church in Montebello together. We remained friends all through high school. She was a beautiful person inside and out and was a friend to everyone who knew her. Her untimely death was tragic and a great loss. I will never forget her.
